Fairtape documentation
Everything about how Fairtape works: the tape, best print and pay links, the contracts behind them, and where we're heading next.
Overview
Tokenized stocks are splitting apart. The same NVIDIA share trades as NVDAx and NVDAon on Solana, NVDA on Robinhood Chain and NVDAc on Base. Each has its own price, its own liquidity and its own way of handling dividends. Fairtape puts them back together as one market:
- Tape: 45 venues across 12 stocks, each priced per real share and compared with the actual share price.
- Best print: start from anything you hold, on any chain, and take the route that gets you the most shares or dollars.
- Pay links: ask for an exact amount of USDC on Base or Solana, and let people pay with whatever stock they hold.
Quickstart
Use it
- Have a look at the live tape. You don't need a wallet for that.
- Connect Phantom for Solana and MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet for Base and Robinhood Chain.
- Open Trade to compare every venue, or make a pay link.
- No money to spare? Testnet mode runs on free faucet tokens.
Run it locally
npm install then npm run dev. You don't need any keys. In production, set DATABASE_URL to a Postgres database. Locally, the app makes a small embedded one in .data/.
Best-print routing
When you buy, Fairtape asks for a route from what you hold to every venue for that stock. When you sell, it looks for the best way into USDC or USDG on each chain. The routes come from LI.FI, which pulls in Jupiter, 1inch, Kyberswap, Across, Relay, Circle CCTP and Mayan, and we rank them by what you actually get per real share after fees and bridges. Just before you sign, we price your chosen route one more time, and we only ever ask you to approve the exact amount.
Pay links
- You pick an amount and the Base or Solana address where you want the USDC. No sign-up needed.
- Whoever pays picks anything they hold, and Fairtape finds an exact-output route so you get precisely what you asked for.
- Once they sign, our server checks the payment for itself: the USDC
Transferon Base or Robinhood Chain, the balance change on Solana, and for cross-chain payments, the transaction that delivers the money on your chain. - One transaction can only pay one link, and it has to happen after the link was made. If a payment comes up short or fails, the link simply opens up again.
Testnet mode
You can try every part of Fairtape on public testnets with free tokens. Each one is a real transaction:
- Trading: the official Robinhood test stocks (TSLA, AMZN, AMD, PLTR, NFLX) at the live price of the real stock. The Fairtape desk, a small contract on Robinhood Chain Testnet, only fills at a price our server has read from mainnet sources and signed, so a testnet trade costs what the real one would.
- Pay with a stock: one swap on Robinhood Chain Testnet sells the stock and sends exactly the requested test USDC to the merchant.
- Cross-chain: Base Sepolia to Solana Devnet through Circle CCTP. Circle delivers the USDC on Solana, and we wait until it lands before marking the link paid.
Faucets
- Robinhood Chain faucet: test ETH and test stocks
- Circle faucet: USDC on Base Sepolia and Solana Devnet
- Base Sepolia ETH · Solana devnet SOL
The tokens are free test tokens, but every price is the real one. If no live price is available, the desk stops quoting instead of guessing. The desk only fills what it holds, so testnet trades are small.
Contracts & sources
We check every address onchain (its symbol(), decimals() and pool tokens) before it goes into the app. Here are a few:

API
Everything here is plain public JSON. None of it returns secrets, signs anything or touches anyone's money.
/api/tape/api/history/{ticker}?hours=72/api/routes/api/status?txHash&fromChain&toChain/api/balances?evm&solana/api/invoices/api/invoices/{id}/api/invoices/{id}/quote/api/invoices/{id}/api/testnet/desk/api/testnet/quote/api/testnet/balances?evm&solanaSecurity & limits
- Fairtape never holds your keys or your money. You sign every transaction yourself.
- We only list tokens from verified issuers, and we keep known fakes out.
- We don't mint, redeem or wrap stock tokens. Each issuer's token is its own legal claim, so only dollars move between chains.
- Stock tokens aren't available to US persons, and a few other countries restrict them too. Fairtape is software, not a broker.
- A route is only as good as the liquidity behind it. Prices can move between the quote and your signature, so every swap has a minimum you're guaranteed to receive.
Business model
- Routing fee: a small fee of 10 to 30 basis points on routed trades, through LI.FI. It's switched off during the beta.
- Merchant API: pay links, notifications and payouts for platforms that pay people in USDC.
- Data: the price gap between issuers, recorded every few minutes. As far as we know, nobody else is collecting it yet.

FAQ
What is Fairtape?
It's one place to see, buy and spend tokenized stocks. The same NVIDIA share now trades as four different tokens: xStocks and Ondo on Solana, Robinhood's on Robinhood Chain, and Coinbase's on Base. Fairtape shows what each one costs per real share, takes you to the cheapest one, and lets people pay you in dollars using the stocks they already hold.
Does Fairtape ever hold my money?
Never. Quotes come from public exchanges and routers, and you sign every transaction yourself in your own wallet, whether that's Phantom, MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet. When someone pays a link, the money goes straight to the person who asked for it.
Why compare per share instead of just the token price?
Because a token isn't always exactly one share. Issuers pay out dividends by nudging up how many shares each token is worth, and every issuer does it at a different rate. On October 1, one SPYx token was worth 1.0057 shares, which is enough to hide a 57 basis point price gap. So Fairtape reads every issuer's live multiplier and takes it out before comparing anything.
How does it pick the best price?
On mainnet, it asks LI.FI, which pulls in Jupiter, 1inch, Kyberswap, Across, Relay, Circle CCTP, Mayan and others, for a real route to every venue. Then it ranks them by what actually lands in your wallet after fees, bridges and multipliers. On testnet, our desk fills you at the live price of the real stock, so the numbers you see are real even though the tokens are free. Either way, you see what you'll get before you sign.
How do I know a pay link was really paid?
We don't take anyone's word for it, including the payer's browser. Our server reads the settlement straight from the chain: the USDC transfer on Base or Robinhood Chain, or the balance change on Solana. For cross-chain payments, it waits until the money actually arrives on the merchant's chain. The link only says Paid once the full amount has landed, and the receipt links to both transactions.
What does it cost?
Nothing from us while we're in beta. You pay the usual network gas and any router or bridge fees, and you'll see all of them before you sign. Later we plan to take a small routing fee, somewhere between 10 and 30 basis points, and sell the price history as a data feed.
Can I try it without spending anything?
Yes, that's what testnet mode is for. At /test you can run everything with free faucet tokens: trade Robinhood's official test stocks, pay a link with a stock, and pay across chains from Base Sepolia to Solana Devnet through Circle. They're all real transactions, so you get explorer links for each one.
Who can use tokenized stocks?
Anyone can look at the tape. Buying the tokens is another matter: the issuers don't offer them to US persons, and some other places are restricted too (Canada, the UK and Switzerland for Robinhood's tokens, for example). Please check the rules where you live. Fairtape isn't a broker, and nothing here is investment advice.
Which stocks and chains can I use?
Right now there are 12 stocks across 45 venues, including NVDA, AAPL, TSLA, MSFT, GOOGL, AMZN and META. They come from xStocks and Ondo on Solana, Robinhood on Robinhood Chain, and Coinbase on Base. We check every token address onchain before adding it, and we keep known fakes out. There really is a fake NVDAx on Solana.
